A statistical look at Michigan State basketball, with a dash of football talk

A dunk (and game) for the ages

NCAA Final Four: Michigan State Spartans v Connecticut Huskies

I guess we can run a little, eh, Digger?

Raymar Morgan: 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Who’s the bozo that called him a “role player”?

Game recap after I get some sleep.

For now, more of The Dunk:

Congrats guys. Izzo outcoached Calhoun in that one. Forced UConn to try and beat them from the perimeter and they just didn’t have it in them without Dyson. Walton clearly dominated Price. Robinson, Thabeet, and Adrien all got their 15-ish but they couldn’t do it alone.

I guess Raymar was saving it all for this game eh? And Travis Walton 8 assists, wow.

I guess the Big Ten isn’t so bad after all…

The depth was way too much for UConn.

    Congrats

Thabeet doesn’t go on – but it does for us. A great time for a complete team effort. Let’s not forget how important Lucious was in the first half. We needed someone to hit a few threes and he came through. It sure feels good this morning.

Good thing we had that depth, because we needed every bit of it to be able to field a team by the end of the game the way it was called. I was really surprised that they didn’t run Price off some screens – basically turn him into a shooting guard. The guy shoots better than 40 percent on three pointers so I think that would have been effective. When he drove we collapsed on him and got TOs, which allowed us to run. Eventually they just couldn’t get anything going inside because we really packed it in. They could have used some outside shooting to loosen things up.

Great game by Morgan – I guess he finally found high gear. Hope he shows up monday night because we’ll need good play from everyone to win that one. The Summers dunk was awsome. Second most gratifying play was the look on Adrien’s face when Suton drew that charge on him – you could tell he knew he’d been had, but it served him right for flopping earlier in the half. This team just seems to keep getting better. GO GREEN!!!
