Rankings Upate

The RPI is really digging us at this point.  I assume that’s a function of (1) nine of our fifteen opponents having double digit wins and (2) only six of the 15 games having been played at home.  That win in the second round of the Old Spice Classic against Oklahoma State is looking pretty good at this point, with the Cowboys now at 12-3.

Seven Big Ten teams are still in position for NCAA Tournament bids according to Joe Lunardi.  Those seven teams are all ranked in the top 35 nationally by Sagarin.

The Ok State win might be looking better but the UNC loss is suddenly looking a lot worse. Suddenly they’re at the bottom of the ACC standings. Granted, it’s early, but they clearly have some issues to work out all of a sudden.

There shouldn’t be much concern regarding the Carolina loss. Their recent losses aren’t too alarming… Wake is an amazing team and the BC game was an anomaly. They are and will be the hands-down favorite to win the tourney. The Oklahoma State win didn’t appear to be a quality win early on, but is starting to look more and more like it is.

What are the chances that Penn St. goes to the line even half as much as last year’s contest at State College (51 FTAs)? Will Hightower be parading around, looking for the nearest BTN camera?

I was joking about UNC being a bad loss, and I’m sure they’ll be right there at the end of the ACC season, but the hiccups are surprising considering people were wondering who could possibly beat them this season not long ago.
