Jamil Wilson is down to three
Posted by kj on Thursday, November 27th, 2008
Jamil Wilson is down to MSU, Oregon, and Texas. Marquette is out of the picture. Wilson says he didn’t like them “playing head games” with him.
Meanwhile, his head coach is hoping he’ll enjoy playing basketball more this season:
“But Jamil needs to just relax sometimes and not get too worked up over things. Sometimes people don’t realize he just turned 18 last Friday. He’s such a high-profile player. I have to make sure he gets to be a kid, and that basketball is fun, so that we are able to use his talents to our benefit as a team.”
Happy Thanksgiving, Spartan fans. Let’s have some Terrapin for dinner.
GO GREEN!

Moothekowon 27 Nov 2008 at 8:40 pm 3So … not sure who is more overrated at this point. UCLA at #4 or MSU at #6.
Tmanon 27 Nov 2008 at 9:07 pm 4Looks like another year where State is living off of reputation. Come on Izzo, get these guys fired up and win one!
This is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusible!!!! I could sense this would be a loss….but not by this much!!!!
It never ceases to amaze me why State always lays an egg on those games they should win and then plays the other games close and lays an egg.
I will repeat what I said at the end of last year…..time for a new coach! Look at the recruiting rankings……State isn’t even in the top twenty!
We can sit here and say that the State BBall program is in the national picture…..the problem is, they can’t deliver and recruiting “B” players to create a national powerhouse is NEVER going to work!!!!
kjon 27 Nov 2008 at 9:55 pm 5You’re walking a fine line, Tman. Bash away as far as tonight’s performance goes. But you better be prepared to defend calling for a new coach. Otherwise, that statement’s plain old trolling.
spartanproduceron 27 Nov 2008 at 9:56 pm 6Tman, you should take that kind of “logic” to Spartan tailgate and other boards where fans are currently melting down, this site usually features logic and information.
Fact is, we have plenty of top recruits, the last two classes and Morgan are all highly rated plus Marquise Gray was a five star recruit.
Plus when we won our national title, how many uber recruits did we have?? Two by my count (Cleaves and Richardson) so not only are you wrong about the recruiting but it’s more than that.
Did Izzo coach poorly tonight?? Probably. . but did he tell the players to miss free throws?? Did he tell them to not communicate on defense?? did he tell them to get confused switching on screens?? Based on his past experience, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t teach those things, now does he need to perhaps figure out a different way to teach them to this squad?? Yes.
But if you’re so about getting a new coach, who would you rather have??
Every spartan is ticked off right now, and I’m guessing Izzo is even more annoyed than you are. Be annoyed, be disgusted, be whatever but try not to subscribe to the sports talk radio, internet message board world we live in where every team/player/coach is either the greatest ever or a bum who should be fire, with no room for anything in between.
Moothekowon 27 Nov 2008 at 10:04 pm 7I think the most disappointing thing I saw tonight was that Raymar went into pout-mode as soon as things didn’t start going his way. Seems like that’s what happened last year all the time during his long running funk towards the end of the season.
Spartan Court Jesteron 26 Jan 2009 at 1:21 am 8I can’t believe what I just read, “time for a new coach”???? You gotta be kidding me!! Alumni across the nation would kill for Izzo as a coach. To suggest otherwise just shows ignorance. Recruiting is important, for sure, but what you do with your recruits speaks volumes, and Izzo is one of the best in the business. If you want to know what a quality coach Izzo is, just ask his former players. They absolutely love him!!
