Gonzaga will be a good match-up to really tell you how the all the young Spartan talent is blending, but the team that could kill you on match-ups early is Tennessee. So, I respectfully disagree that your worst match-up would be Georgetown. I would give your guys a better-than-even chance to beat UT if Suton was at full rebounding ability, but with Izzo going small I think it's unlikely that you're able to really punish the Vols on the boards to make up for the likely TO differential. I do agree that a 2-1 finish is the most likely scenario as Izzo likes to work out the kinks early in the season. As a result, I also suspect that MSU will be the best team in March of all the squads in this field.

One caveat, there's a good chance that the experienced Siena team bops off the more talented (but at times undisciplined) Volunteers. I don't think the Spartans will lose the tourney championship if you're playing Siena (or Georgetown) for the crown.

Unfortunately MSU just tied UIC 0-0 all the way to a shoot-out and then lost 3-2 on the kicks. Ends a great career for Joe Baum and a great season for the Spartans who won the big10 regular season title for the first time ever, and added the big ten tourney title as well.
