Jamil Wilson Update
Posted by kj on Thursday, November 13th, 2008
Obviously, Jamil Wilson didn’t sign with anybody yesterday. Here’s what his high school basketball coach said:
“He is still looking into his final four schools, which are Michigan State, Marquette, Texas and Oregon,” said Jason Treutelaar, Wilson’s high school coach. “He is thinking about signing early, but that is not 100 percent. He still has to sit down with his family and talk more in depth.
“If he does not sign before next Wednesday (the last day of the early signing period), he will sign in April. If he does not sign early, he will announce his decision on March 8, his late mother Carolyn’s birthday.”
Marquette seems to have come out of nowhere to again be a top choice for Wilson. Buzz Williams appears to be picking up right where Tom Crean left off, already landing a five-player class for 2009 that includes three 4-star recruits.
Bonus information: How many of you knew that Wilson is also a very good volleyball player? (I read somewhere that boy’s volleyball is pretty big-time in Wisconsin.) He was recently named a second-team all-state player in that sport.
If Wilson doesn’t end up signing with MSU, I’m working under the assumption that Izzo will bank that scholarship slot for 2010.
