More Media Day Notes

“I feel this is my team now,” Lucas said. “Last year it was more of me coming in as the new guy. I know what I’m talking about now.

“We want to run more this season, our main thing is to get out and run.”

  • Goran Suton has added 10 pounds and reduced his body fat percentage from 12 to 9.
  • Izzo feels Purdue is the favorite to win the conference.
  • Isaiah Dahlman will get more chance to play this year.  Is there enough PT to go round?
  • Izzo on Delvon Roe:

“The hard part is, I’m going to have to make some hard decisions.

“Do you go with him if he’s healthy and let him fail and go through his growing pains a little bit? And we don’t have one of those schedules where you can do that and still win. So, some of it might be costly.”

  • Izzo says Marquise Gray had an outstanding offseason.  (Of course, everybody had a great offseason.  Still, Izzo sounds high on Gray’s ability to contribute this year.)
  • Morris Peterson’s #42 will be retired this year–maybe at the Kansas game.
  • The theme for Midnight Madness will be the 30th anniversary of the 1979 championship game.  And the football team will make an appearance. Yeah.
  • MSU is wearing the form-fitting style of Nike uniforms that Ohio State wore last year.  Boo.

    Well, I’ve been working on the football season trend post for a while.

    And the Media Day stuff is easy pickings.

    So don’t expect this pace to continue. :)

    Boy, I do dislike that WNBA look. Whole lot of white on those home jerseys…

    10 extra pounds of Suton muscle is just more Suton to love. This is a fantastic development.

    Mo Pete’s jersey retired and the 30th anniversary of 1979 season. Seems like just yesterday I was in the O-zone (what my buddies and I affectionately called our seats in the very last row against the wall of the Breslin), cheering Mo Pete on, claiming 1999 had to be the year of destiny, it being the 20th year anniversary of 1979 and all. Can I feel happy and old at the same time?

    I’ve been away and haven’t been able to keep up on things, but I’ll be at the Madness tonight – I’m pumped!

    Suton packing on 10 pounds of muscle and reducing his body fat percentage by three points (which can’t be accounted for solely for the extra 10 pounds) is good to hear. With his improvement last season over his sophomore year, he should be a pretty solid contributor. How about Herzog’s weight and frame?

    I’d love for Gray to be a real contributor this year too. He’s built like a truck and has lots of intensity. It would behoove this team to have that strength and emotion chanelled productively.

    Seeing how the theme tonight is the 1979 championship team, can we expect to see Magic and lots of bell-bottoms?
