The Notre Dame passing attack: A play in three acts
kj on Sep 20th 2008
A lot of the headlines about this game will focus on Javon Ringer. And that’s cool. He was an absolute workhorse again today and racked up a second straight 200-yard game, this time against a BCS conference-quality foe (insert joke here about Notre Dame and the BCS, but they’re clearly a notch up from EMU).
And [...]
Letting the opposition do the heavy statistical lifting for us
kj on Sep 20th 2008
Rakes of Mallow has a phenomenal post up breaking down Michigan State’s tendencies and performance on first down through three games. Excerpt:
Most impressive about these stats is the number of times Sparty rushed on first down for four yards or more. Almost 65% of the time MSU gained 4+ yards by carrying the rock on [...]

A couple game previews from an Irish perspective:
Blue Gray Sky fears Javon Ringer, Greg Jones, and Otis Wiley–but not the passing game or our cornerbacks. A reasonable take–although Hoyer’s really only had one shot to show what he can do with Dell and Cunningham (the Cal game).

Attempting to debunk the idea that Michigan handed the game to Notre Dame (Kelly Green).

Lacy Interviews Izzo
kj on Sep 18th 2008
Eric Lacy, a top-notch reporter for the Detroit News, was somehow lucky enough to get transferred from the U-M beat to the MSU beat. He sat down for an in-depth interview with Tom Izzo this week. It’s a great read–illustrating all the things we love about Izzo: candor, energy, loyalty.
Based on this teaser from the [...]
Wednesday Links: Delvon Roe Edition
kj on Sep 17th 2008
Eric Lacy has a couple encouraging updates on Delvon Roe: First, he remains on schedule to be ready for the start of the season; he participated in “basketball related activities” for the first time in nine months on Monday. Caveat:
“If Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, God took off nine months, they aren’t going to [...]
