Tman, learn to read. The article states he had the fourth highest salary before Crean and Self got their recent paydays.

Also, take a check on reality: a championship in 10 years is a very good turnout along with continued tournament success. Kansas, established for much longer, just took 20. What UCLA just did in the last couple of years (3 straight Final Fours), is what MSU did within the last 10 years, with another Elite Eight and Final Four thrown in since. You may criticize the salary, you may even criticize the performance, but the basis you chose to criticize on is just plain limited. We can contrast and compare performance even against Wisconsin, but it's not like it's as easy as counting Big Ten championships, disregarding NCCA tournament performance, revenues brought in, promotion, and other ancillary benefits. And it's not like Bo Ryan is begging for change (see link).

And if you are going to say that the teams have been good because of the performance of 6-8 players, well you can say something like that for every other top program. Where is UNC without it's parade of all-stars, or Kansas or UCLA or even Wisconsin. This is just a moronic argument. Good teams necessitate some core of good players, whether hyped or not.

Okay...let me get this straight....Tom Izzo's salary, prior to Bill Self's great run and Tom Crean's signing with Indiana, was the second in NCAA!!!! Are you kidding me?!.....

When you consider what just UCLA and UNC have done the last two to three years, I would say he is woefully overpaid. Further, given he has NO, 0, Zilch, Nada championships of any kind in almost eight years, (Wisconsin has more) if the thought is he may be using this opportunity to raise his salary, I say "GOOD RIDANCE TOM"....be off with you and have a good life.

Rather than be nervous about Tom leaving, we should be sitting down with him and laying down our expectations......CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! Tom, buddy, you need to start earning your keep and asap or you can go wherever the heck you want and we will find someone who will win championships.

Let's be honest here....Tom is still living off his success from the late '90's and early 2000-2001 and six to eight players that made those teams so good. If MSU wants to be recognized as an elite BBall program than it needs to start laying down those expectations and earning some respect from the coaching and recruiting world!!!
