A statistical look at Michigan State basketball, with a dash of football talk

Around the conference blogosphere

Inside the Hall recaps IU’s loss to Arkansas last night.  From what I saw, the Hoosiers played with a bit more intensity–at least on offense–than they’ve shown since Sampson was shown the door.  They got the ball more consistently to D.J. White, who finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds.  But Gordon continued to struggle, making just 3 of 15 FG attempts, and Arkansas put together scoring runs whenever IU drew close in the second half.  Dan Dakich is somewhat disconnected from reality, to say the least.

Looking forward to the Wisconsin-Kansas State and Purdue-Xavier games, to gauge the Big Ten versus a couple of quality teams outside the conference.  Unfortunately, they’re both scheduled for the 4:30 slot.

Badgercentric speculates that Marcus Landry will guard Michael Beasley.  He’d seemed to be as well equipped as anyone could be to guard someone of Beasley’s immense abilities.

Off the Tracks previews the Purdue game.  Sounds like Xavier has some similarities to Purdue–balanced scoring without a big post presence.  Off the Tracks is hopeful Purdue can score some in the low post with Calasan and Johnson.

This will be my first day of wall-to-wall March Madness viewing this year.  Hopefully, the 7 hours that proceed the MSU game will be entertaining for everyone–and the final two hours of viewing will be entertaining only for us Spartans.
