Tuesday night links

- Chris Allen to miss IPFW game with bruised foot: Thanks to spartalytical for posting this in the comments section. Doesn’t sound too serious. Is this Isaiah Dahlman’s last chance to earn some minutes in the playing rotation?
- LSJ notes on MSU basketball: Nice weekend for the Izzo coaching tree. Tom Crean’s Marquette team won at Wisconsin, and Brian Gregory’s Dayton team knocked off Louisville.
- Future Spartan Roe may have injured knee on national TV: Caught a bit of this game. Roe was outshown by UCLA-bound Jrue Holiday and teammate (and IU-bound) Tom Pritchard in the scoring column. But he looks like the ideal Izzo forward: rebounds, passes the ball well, versatile defender.
- Poll watching: MSU holds steady at #9 in the AP poll and #10 in the coaches’ poll. Only two Big Ten teams (MSU/IU) are ranked in both polls at the moment. Wisconsin is #23 in the coaches’ poll, but fell to the honorable mention list in the AP poll.
- Knight-Alford V: They’ve both departed from the Big Ten but their teams have managed to find each other nonetheless.
Commercial interruption: You may have noticed I’ve added some links to various commercially-available Spartan basketball-related goods–tickets from Stubhub; other stuff from Ebay and Amazon. (While I obviously can’t guarantee any service provided by an external entity, I have used Stubhub a couple times. It seems like the most reliable way to buy sports tickets on the secondary market.) Part of starting this blog was to learn a little more about how the cyber world works. I’ve put the links up for that reason as much as anything. I don’t expect to earn much (if anything) from them. If you happen to be in the market for Spartan tickets or memorabilia, consider using these links to make your purchase. If not, no worries. I’ve put them at the bottom of the sidebar to avoid interfering with the content-related stuff. End of commercial interruption.
Working on an analysis of the decline in Neitzel’s scoring this season in the context of his career shooting statistics. Hopefully that’ll be ready to go tomorrow night . . .

Sounds fairly serious. His mom says he could miss between 6 weeks and 6 months.

Roe seems like a good kid and he’s clearly a terrific player and I’m sure he’ll be ready to roll next Fall in East Lansing. I saw Roe’s St. Edwards game last week on ESPN and, among other things, was particularly impressed with his vision and unselfishness. He obviously has a good high school coach. Izzo seems to have a knack for plucking perfect fits for the MSU program from Northern Ohio to the chagrin of Thad Matta I’m sure.
